SBC Training Program is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough 9 level program that combines high-quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels. Pre-Primary through Level 5 will be taught by ABT® Certified Teachers Julienne Ratz and Gina DeCroix Russell, who have successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.

In May 2002, the SBC selected its first class of 16 Trainees to study at the newly formed SBC Academy Training Program. An extension of the SBC, the Academy is designed to enhance the training currently offered by area dance studios. Trainees attend weekly classes, as well as participate in master classes and lectures with the SBC dancers.

The training program is offered in three trimesters and is open to intermediate level dancers currently taking three or more hours of class per week at the studio of their choice. Placement is by audition only and acceptance of a trainee position demands a full-year commitment. Trainee auditions are held concurrent with Company auditions.
